New York, SANA- China called on all parties to leave space for diplomatic negotiations as part of efforts to resolve the crisis

New York-Sana

China called on all parties to leave space for diplomatic negotiations as part of efforts to resolve the Ukraine crisis.

Xinhua quoted China's Permanent Representative to the United Nations Zhang Jun as explaining the matter regarding China's vote on the UN Security Council draft resolution on Ukraine: "China calls on all parties concerned to exercise restraint, refrain from actions that exacerbate tensions, and leave spaces for settlement. through diplomatic negotiations.

"China holds that the urgent priority is to make all possible efforts to de-escalate the situation, and guide the parties to resume diplomatic negotiations as soon as possible to open the door for political settlement while putting legitimate concerns about the negotiations and workable solutions on the table," Zhang said.

Facts have shown that political isolation, sanctions and pressure exacerbate tensions, and confronting the blocs will not bring peace, and instead will only aggravate the situation and make the issue more complicated and difficult, Zhang noted, stressing that China, as a responsible country, always stands by the side of peace. It will continue to play a constructive role in alleviating the situation and resolving the crisis.

It is noteworthy that the draft resolution put forward by the United States and Albania yesterday to a vote in the Security Council considered organizing referenda to join Russia “illegal.” In addition to the Russian veto, 4 countries abstained from the vote: China, India, Brazil and Gabon.
