Environmentalists on Saturday rejected a referendum aimed at postponing their next Congress to better prepare a reform of the statutes, a week after the rejection of a first referendum, carried by the management, which already aimed to simplify the statutes.

The second referendum, carried in particular by Alain Coulombel, supporter of the left wing of EELV, aimed to postpone the next party congress, scheduled for December, until the end of the 1st quarter of 2023, to allow a phase of debates and consultations aimed at reforming the statutes of the party.

But the text, which collected less than 2,800 votes (out of 10,998 members), obtained 60.98% of the votes (1,700 votes), a score lower than the 66% necessary to validate the referendum, according to figures communicated by the party.

Alain Coulombel judged himself that the vote, which took place from Wednesday evening to Saturday evening, had little chance of succeeding, because the partisans of the first referendum, last week, had according to him called to vote no against the second.

The first referendum advocated in particular

His opponents saw it

as a "forced passage"

“All that time has been wasted.

It generated significant tensions, it's eye for eye, tooth for tooth

, "he added, while the party is shaken by the Bayou affair, which forced the management to meet on Saturday.
