Essential guide for a seriéphile autumn

As the September premieres have shown, once again the season is off to a strong start. We look forward to the coming months to select the most attractive of the huge television offer


We have started another autumn full of television fiction in which it will be impossible to cover the entire offer.

That is why the weekly television bulletin of EL PAÍS (to which you can subscribe here) has been dedicated for three weeks to tracking news and bets from the platforms as a basic roadmap to navigate in the seriéphile autumn.

Many productions will be left out of this selection due to space issues, and many others have not even been announced yet (for example, the arrival of the SkyShowtime platform is scheduled for this fall, which will bring another good handful of series).

Here's a list of the best yet to come.

'Interview with the Vampire' ('Interview with the Vampire')

Based on the gothic novel by Anne Rice.

Jessica Biel stars as Candy Montgomery, an 1980s housewife and mother with a perfect life, but when the pressure of conformity begins to suffocate her, her quest for a little freedom will have deadly results.

It premieres October 12 on Disney+.

What is it about?

Charlie Hunnam plays a fugitive trying to get lost in the chaotic Bombay of the 1980s.

There he will try to avoid the problems he has been running from, but, after falling in love with an enigmatic woman, he will have to choose between freedom and love and the complications that this brings.

Starting October 14 on Apple TV+.

'Guillermo del Toro's Cabinet of Curiosities'

What is it about?

Guillermo del Toro is the creator, producer and presenter of this series with autonomous chapters in which horror stories are told.

Among the actors who will go through it are F. Murray Abraham, Andrew Lincoln, Rupert Grint, Kate Micucci or David Hewlett.

When and where to see it?

Netflix will drop two episodes each day between October 25 and 28 in the week before Halloween.

'This England'

What is it about?

Kenneth Branagh is Boris Johnson in this series about the impact of the pandemic in the UK.

Drawing on first-hand accounts, the series delves into life at 10 Downing Street, the Emergency Science Advisory Group, and the nation's hospitals and nursing homes, as well as how Johnson dealt with personal and political crises and the controversy.

What is it about?

The 1988 film is the basis of this series that serves as a sequel to that story about a dwarf farmer aspiring magician who had to protect a baby from an evil queen.

Now, a group of heroes will embark on a dangerous quest beyond their home where they will have to face their own demons and work together to save their world.

The premiere is scheduled for November 30 on Disney +.

Ryan Murphy is the producer of this horror miniseries about a couple who move into the house of their dreams and start receiving threatening letters from a stalker who watches his movements and doesn't want her in the house.

What is it about?

Sam Levinson (
