The Ministry of Health announced today that the cumulative number of cholera cases confirmed by rapid testing in the country has risen to 524, distributed in Aleppo 346, Deir Ezzor 72, Al-Hasakah 34, Raqqa 26, Latakia 20, Homs 6, As-Suwayda 6, Damascus 5, and Daraa 3, and Quneitra 1.
According to a ministry statement, SANA received a copy of it today, the total cumulative number of deaths from cholera reached 36, distributed in Aleppo 31, al-Hasakah 3, and Deir ez-Zor 2, noting that most of the deaths were caused by the delay in seeking early medical advice or by people suffering from chronic diseases.
The ministry renewed its call for the need to follow public health procedures, namely washing hands with soap and water frequently, drinking water from a safe source, and if it cannot be found, it can be boiled for two minutes and then kept in a clean and closed container, in addition to the need to wash fruits and vegetables well, cook and save food. At the appropriate temperature, not to drink or eat anything of unknown source or suspect its safety, and seek early medical advice if infection is suspected.
