The death toll from Hurricane Ian that struck Florida has risen to 45.
And CNN quoted Florida Governor Ron DeSantis as saying that "the storm caused historic damage to the state, and it will take years to fully recover, as there are more than 1.2 million people still without electricity in the state."
US President Joe Biden had announced earlier that the devastation caused by Hurricane Ian in Florida is likely to be among the worst in the history of the United States, and issued directives to take all possible measures to save lives.
The previous toll from Hurricane Ian indicated that at least 23 people had died.
