A road drama occurred this Saturday morning in the city center of Meaux (Seine-et-Marne).
It's around 5:40 a.m.
The city is still sleeping.
A motorist was driving along avenue du Maréchal-Foch when he violently struck a bus which was arriving perpendicularly.
According to the bus driver, the driver of the car ran the red light.
The latter died instantly.
Originally from Val-d'Oise, he was thirty years old.
According to the investigators, he is "very unfavorably known to the police, especially for traffic offences".
As for the bus driver, "very shocked", he suffers from lower back pain.
An investigation is opened.
Another fatal accident in mid-September
This is the second fatal accident in the city of Meaux in two weeks.
During the night of September 17 to 18, a vehicle traveling at high speed entered the scaffolding of a house under construction located at the corner of Quai Sadi-Carnot and rue de Trévise, at the entrance to the Market.
The accident caused two deaths, but also two serious injuries among the occupants of the vehicle.
A fifth individual who had fled running then presented himself to the police station.
The public prosecutor has opened a judicial investigation, in particular for "manslaughter", "involuntary injury", "hit and run" and "non-assistance to a person in danger" against the alleged driver.
At the time of the tragedy, the latter was a detainee on semi-freedom – following a conviction for a traffic offense – and “imprisoned” at the time in the penitentiary center of Meaux-Chauconin.
After his appearance before a judge of freedoms and detention (JLD), the 30-year-old man was remanded in custody and imprisoned.
