The new recycling plant in Thenn was the focus of the local assembly in Manhartsdorf.

Many citizens expressed concerns about noise pollution and the environment.

Manhartsdorf

– There was great interest in the citizens' meeting for the Manhartsdorf district of Wartenberg in Schweiger's country inn.

There was one reason above all: As reported, Alpha Kunststoff Recycling GmbH is planning a recycling plant in the Thenner industrial park.

A citizen of Thenn had sent an open letter to the mayor and local council as a result of our report from the building committee, which was also received by our newspaper.

The citizen asked for clarification, among other things, with regard to environmental pollution and noise development.

And of course there were a few questions in the assembly.

The partners Andreas Schmid, Sebastian Baumeister and Patrick Scheffzick answered questions.

The company is investing six million euros in the plant, which will process 15,000 tons of plastic waste per year, as it comes from the yellow bags, for recycling.

The end result is injection molded parts such as garbage can lids.

A citizen wanted to know whether flying sparks could occur during the processing of plastic that is produced on the basis of crude oil and how it is extinguished.

Schmid explained that this can be extinguished with water, but that powder or foam will probably be used.

This was followed by the question of whether contaminated water from the company could get into the environment.

The trio assured that this would be avoided in any case, they would do their homework.

In any case, little water is involved, since the material is not cleaned with water but with centrifugal force.

The shareholders vehemently contradicted the statement that this was a new type of processing or even a test facility.

The technology used has already been tested.

Another question related to the traffic load.

According to the trio, operation is currently planned in two shifts and later in a maximum of three shifts.

Initially there were up to eight and later up to a maximum of 14 truck trips a day.

The shareholders even presented two travel routes, although there could of course be outliers due to navigation devices.

Scheffzick did not rule out a certain level of noise pollution, but it would be below the guideline values for industrial areas.

The inside of the south wall of the production hall is lined with soundproofing bricks.

There is no danger of toxic fumes, since such a thing cannot occur with this system.

With regard to the building permit, the Erding district office is examining all matters.

Mayor Christian Pröbst had previously announced that there was now a budget freeze due to the energy crisis and empty coffers and that all amounts over 100 euros would have to be approved by him.

There will be Christmas trees again this year, but only the market square will be illuminated until 10 p.m.

As in Langenpreising, children can make stars for the Christmas tree decorations.
