The last line: the proposals for Shaked, the unrest with Gantz and the battle for the Arab voice Israel today

2022-10-01T20:48:54.875Z

In Likud they aim to "drink" the voters of the Jewish Home • In the state camp they criticize the party's campaign: "We work according to what the left and the ultra-Orthodox say, we miss the right" • And in the future they fear that not only Balad will not pass the threshold • One month until the elections: Update

In 30 days the citizens of Israel will go to the nearest polling station to vote in the Knesset elections.

The big question hovering over the long election campaign is whether, at the end of it, a stable government will be established in Israel for a few years that will put an end to the never-ending rounds of elections.

What will decide this question is perhaps more than anything - the voting rate in the Arab sector.

The issue concerns the two heads of the blocs, Yair Lapid and Benjamin Netanyahu, in the same way, but their actions are different and opposite to each other.

Since the split of the joint list into a separate run by Balad and Hadash-Ta'al, it can be said that Netanyahu is troubled by three main issues. The first is the desire for a low voter turnout in the Arab sector and the fall of Balad below the blocking percentage, and even of another Arab party.

This figure will increase the chances of the right block to get 61.

That is why Netanyahu wants to put the Arab sector to sleep, to induce indifference so that they will not come to vote at the polls.

The derivative of this action was the decision of the parties of the Netanyahu bloc not to participate in the vote on the disqualification of the Balad and Ra'am parties, despite statements against them during the year that they support terrorism.

This, on the grounds that the disqualification of the parties is a shot of encouragement to the Arab sector to come out and vote, and in fact serves as a gift to the Balad and Ra'am campaigns.

Netanyahu attacks Shaked: "She talks right and does left"

The second issue that preoccupies Netanyahu is Ayelet Shaked.

The chairman of the Likud made a decision to attack Shaked and "drink" her voters until she withdraws from the race. The argument underlying the move is that Shaked has no chance of passing the threshold even with the quiet support of the Likud. Therefore, it is necessary to "drink" the right-wing voters from her, so that she burns Only votes that without the Jewish Home would have voted for Gantz.

Behind the scenes, Smotrich and the Likud thought of offering Shaked or even the man of the Jewish Home, Rodney, positions in exchange for retirement, but Shaked rejects these initiatives and claims that they did not reach her and that she will not accept any deal or offer.

Anger at Netanyahu

The third thing is to increase the voting rate of Likudniks and right-wing voters who did not go out to vote in the previous times.

Netanyahu set up a whole "door-to-door" system, the purpose of which is to go through cities and neighborhoods for Jews according to the segmentation of databases and knock on doors to get people out of the house.

This is the Likud's most expensive project, but on the ground there is anger at Netanyahu that this is a separate arrangement and the branches are not involved in this activity and do not receive budgets for it.

In the opposite bloc, Prime Minister Lapid is concerned about a low voter turnout in the Arab sector and wants to stimulate voting for the Ra'am and Hadash-Ta'al parties. Everyone in the political system understands that Lapid's only chance of remaining prime minister is to prevent Netanyahu from turning 61 and to continue serving as transitional prime minister, and alternatively Form a government with external support on Ahmed Tibi and Ayman Odeh, who without Balad can get "kosher".

But Saar and Elkin from the state camp oppose the move.

Either way, Lapid hangs on the Arab voice.

at the expense of the rest

In light of this, Lapid decided that Yesh Atid will not participate in the vote on the disqualification of Balad, this is in order not to energize the party's voters, which will likely not pass the threshold. Beish Atid understands that the Supreme Court will in any case approve Balad, so that they prefer that fewer votes be burned in the Arab sector and more vote for Hadash-Ta'al or Ra'am.

The second story in the opposite bloc is Lapid's decision to become stronger at the expense of the other parties in the bloc.

As far as Lapid is concerned, Yesh Atid must be the largest party in the change bloc by a margin.

The ideal situation for him is for Meretz, Havoda and Lieberman to have four mandates and Gantz on single digits.

Stick to the left

The goal is to remove Gantz from the race for prime minister and deny his legitimacy to the move.

The two countries' speech at the UN was a derivative of an action that gave Lapid a boost among left-wing voters.

Officials in the state camp criticize the party's campaign and tell "Israel Today" that "the campaign works according to what the left and the ultra-Orthodox say. They stick to the left and do not want to highlight the right side of New Hope for fear that Lapid will take all the voters on the left. On the other hand, they are afraid of what the ultra-Orthodox They will say that they want their cooperation after the elections, so they don't invest enough in religious Zionism and statements about religion and state, so they miss out on the votes of the right."
