Different ways of integrating the Syrian seal with plastic painting, included in the “Wasl Workshop” exhibition, which was hosted by Zawaya Gallery of Fine Art in Damascus.

The exhibition included paintings that presented different visions of young experiences by artists Toulin Al-Rezai, Dana Salama, Shahd Al-Raz, Majdaleen Al-Ali, Mahmoud Khalil and Muhannad Al-Sari, under the supervision of the plastic artist Fadi Al-Assaf.

Al-Assaf indicated that the exhibition’s paintings are the product of a workshop entitled “Wasl” that specializes in teaching methods of integrating stamping with plastic painting.

He explained that the aim of the exhibition is to present different ways to employ the stamp within the plastic painting by providing various experiences for new graduates.

One of the participants in the workshop, the young plastic artist Majdoleen Al-Ali, specializing in engraving, a graduate of fine arts, pointed out that the seals pushed her to work with color in a different way by cleverly employing the many colors within the painting.

For Ali, the exhibition was an opportunity to exchange opinions and ideas and learn about various experiences.

As for the young artist, Mahmoud Khalil, a graduate of Fine Arts, Department of Interior Architecture, he participated in the exhibition with paintings that include the revival of the ancient febrile seals by presenting a method for placing seals within the plastic painting.

In his paintings, he worked on repeating the seal and employing it as a strong element in contemporary plastic painting, raw materials and colors, using animal, plant and living forms.

Dana Salama, a graduate of the Faculty of Fine Arts, Department of Photography, provided a new experience in dealing with the idea of printing and ancient seals by making the stamp part of the painting and building color treatments based on its presence.

It is noteworthy that the exhibition will host artists Raneem Al-Lahham, Azza Haider, Karim Al-Khatib and Majd Hinnawi as guests of honor and will continue until October 6.
