The appointment was not trivial: to know where the new Ciudadanos is going after the announced renewal process.

The time, half past eleven this Saturday morning.

And the place, the party's national headquarters, in Madrid.

Around 50 members have attended the party's call, which has released the first conclusions of the next refoundation.

Among the postulates that have reaffirmed the foundations of Cs, are the recentralization of the autonomous State —especially in competences related to education and health—, the elimination of the term “nationalities” from the Constitution and studying the viability of the four-hour working day. days wherever possible.

“We are not going to be afraid.

We are going to say what bipartisanship does not dare.

Let's stop defining ourselves around other parties", said Begoña Villacís,

The conclusions, presented by two other members of the G-8 —Patricia Guasp, in charge of regional action and finances, and Dimas Gragera, in charge of organization, mobilization and militancy, in an event lasting around an hour that could also be followed by

—, are the result of the questionnaires that the more than 2,000 affiliates have completed during this summer.

But there are few surprises.

The results reaffirm the program and initiatives that the nine Ciudadanos deputies defend in Congress.

“These results are not surprising, but you are going to see them in an assembled way”, underlined José Miguel García, former Secretary General of Transparency of the Junta de Castilla y León and technical coordinator of the listening process.

In addition to the defense of centralism and the fight against nationalism, the party's affiliates bet on a strict audit of officials, a smaller bureaucratic structure and lower taxes on the middle classes.

What they have not wanted to reveal, for the moment, are the answers regarding the name change.

An external consultant will also work to clarify this and other issues in the coming weeks.

With the cards on the table, and once they know what the affiliates think, the party will now have to find the key to re-illusion its electorate.

A very complicated task in a political context in which, for the moment, the Popular Party has engulfed the former voters of Cs.

This Saturday's act at the Ciudadanos headquarters.

Beforehand, the refoundation team will have to transform these conclusions into the papers that will be debated at the general assembly, scheduled for December or January.

Until then, the members of the G-8 will continue with the tour of the territories that they inaugurated a couple of weeks ago, in Zaragoza, also Guasp and Gragera.

"We are going to continue listening to all of you in each of the territories to also test all this decalogue that has been to land your proposals", added Guasp at the act.

Affiliate's profile

Another of the data that the analysis of the questionnaires has yielded is the profile of the Citizens affiliate.

The average profile of the bases of Cs are people with children, around 44 years old, with higher education, educated in the concerted school, with liberal professionals, entrepreneurs, scientists, doctors and teachers.

And in that sense, the party has long been appealing to the "superpayers" and demands a reduction in taxes for them as well, in addition to greater flexibility in teleworking and adapting work schedules to schoolchildren.

The exact number of militants remains unknown, and will necessarily have to be revealed before the general assembly, since it will be the bases that will have to endorse the entire renewal process and the proposals, in addition to voting in the primaries to elect the party president.

Cs sources suggest that the figure would be around 9,000.

Among those attending this Saturday's event was the newly elected youth coordinator of the party, Carlos de la Flor.

Also a critical militant who, at the end of the event, has heatedly expressed his anger at not being able to debate or ask questions about the decalogue.

“Are we still with the Arrimadas dictatorship?

This has been the death certificate of Citizens! ”, The man has shouted, standing up, from his chair.

His attitude has caused the rejection of the affiliates who have followed the presentation attentively.
