Parents are committed to the open all-day program at the Tutzing elementary school.

But they would like more space and staff.

Tutzing – Anke Geißel's son was in the lunchtime care at the Tutzing elementary school, but it was closed.

Parents took matters into their own hands.

In discussions with Mayor Marlene Greinwald, the idea of organizing an "open all-day" came up.

The parents founded an association that now has 46 members.

Anke Geißel became the first chairperson and Gisela Sauer the second.

They worked hard, as did Heike Friesenegger, who took over the management of the open all-day event.

Before that, she worked in day care for a long time.

A dedicated team came together at short notice.

Friesenegger is a curative education nurse, Joanna Suvara a physiotherapist, Ulrike Brucker an art therapist and Andrea Salihbegovic a nurse.

They continue their education with additional pedagogical training.

All four are mothers, together they have ten children.

In addition, two interns from the Starnberg technical college work with us.

From 11:15 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., everything takes place in two places on the school premises: in the school kitchen and opposite, at the old teacher's house, where space is available on the ground floor.

There are cozy corners and quiet zones, play opportunities and quiet areas, and two classrooms for homework.

The Albrechthof from Oderding will take care of the catering from next week.

Donations are added, such as a foosball game from the motorcycle and veterans club in Kampberg.

"It's an affair of the heart," says Friesenegger: "If the children feel good, then the parents will feel good too." 50 children from the first to fourth grades are there.

There are requests for new registrations, but Geissel says: "We can only take a few more places." More space and more staff would be needed.

Parents don't have to pay for childcare.

They only have to pay manageable amounts on Fridays.

Otherwise, everything runs on state funding and club contributions.

All board members work on a voluntary basis.

Mayor Greinwald is very satisfied with the childcare.

"We're ahead of our time," she says, referring to the right to all-day care that will apply from 2026.

The offer is good with several after-school care centers and the open all-day – from October also for the middle school on the Bundeswehr grounds: “I think that we have accommodated all the children well.”
