Rural Damascus-SANA
A training course entitled (Molecular Characterization and Study of Genetic Relationship Degrees) for sheep and goats for a number of trainees from the Ministry of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform, Damascus University and the Syndicate of Veterinarians began today, within the framework of the agreements signed between these parties and the Arab Center for Studies of Arid Zones and Arid Lands (ACSD), at the headquarters of Center.
The Minister of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform, Engineer Mohamed Hassan Qatana, pointed out in a speech during the opening of the week-long session the importance of benefiting from the genes present in sheep and goats, and improving their types in terms of productivity and breeding, pointing out that the varieties of Awassi sheep and local goats have important genetic characteristics, characterized by quality and ability. To withstand the climatic and topographic conditions present in the breeding places.
For his part, Dr. Nasr El-Din El-Obeid, ACSAD Director General, pointed out the special importance of the course, as it deals with a more accurate and modern field, and provides the latest methods in molecular characterization and differentiation between species and varieties at the level of genetic material, and determining the degrees of genetic kinship that serve breeding and genetic improvement programs to reach strains with High productivity specifications.
During the course, a number of experts and researchers specialized in the field of biology and genetic improvement will give several practical and applied lectures in ACSAD laboratories on molecular biology, extracting genetic material and how to use the results in genetic improvement programs, in addition to practical laboratory sessions with the aim of training in laboratory work and identifying the most important techniques Modern in practice.
