The IHK regional committee hopes for positive effects on the tense skilled labor market.

District – The IHK regional committee, an association of entrepreneurs limited to the district under the umbrella of the Munich and Upper Bavaria Chamber of Commerce and Industry, has unanimously spoken out in favor of prioritizing a vocational school at the Grafing location.

With such an educational facility, preferably near the Grafing train station, the committee hopes that it will also have positive long-term effects on the currently more than extremely tight skilled labor market.

According to Sonja Ziegltrum, chairwoman of the regional committee, at the regular autumn meeting in the offices of ZamWorking Coworking Space on Grafinger Marktplatz, it is completely open whether and when the school building project can be implemented.

And not least because the district, as a potential builder, is currently in the dilemma of wanting to satisfy both desires in Poing (construction of a fifth high school) and a vocational school.

Both at the same time, however, lack the financial resources.

District of Ebersberg: The only district in Germany without a vocational school

After all, according to the Parsdorferin, a vocational school is a type of school that does not exist in the Ebersberg district;

as the only district nationwide.

According to the district councilor, this lack does not fit at all with the self-imposed goal of wanting to be a district in the middle of an educational region.

As clear as the vote of the entrepreneurs present was, the resolution was ultimately weak.

Because too many voting members were missing at the conference in Grafing, a special passage had to be activated in the statutes.

Only then did the regional committee have a quorum, regardless of the number of those present.

Focus: Skills shortage

The second focus of the meeting was the lack of skilled workers and the future of training young people in their own companies.

According to Sonja Ziegltrum, there are two problems that have been preoccupying the local economy for a long time.

The operation of one's own vocational school in the district area could be a signal and increase the attractiveness of the Ebersberg location.

The installation of a vocational primary school year could also increase the chance of finding applicants for numerous vacancies in the medium to long term.

IHK consultant Sebastian John focused on the subject of skilled workers in his presentation.

61 percent of all companies now said that the lack of technically well-trained employees posed a major risk for the company.

Not only were academics missing, but also people with simpler qualifications.

The IHK is therefore in favor of more flexible handling when recruiting foreign skilled workers.

Employment Agency: The problem affects all areas

The team leader of the employer service at the employment agency in Ebersberg, Monika Tillger, showed the participants how to work together to combat the shortage of skilled workers.

It shouldn't be about poaching one another's strengths, but rather focusing on the people who are already employed in the companies and who could be trained.

There are a variety of instruments that can be used for this purpose.

The woman from Anzing did not want to commit herself to sectors where things are currently particularly difficult: "Actually, the problem of a shortage of skilled workers affects all areas".

In her presentation at the IHK regional meeting, however, the areas of motor vehicles, social affairs (care, etc.), childcare, storage/logistics, sales and trade, tourism and the catering trade and, apparently quite blatantly, the lack of professional drivers of all kinds were mentioned in particular.

IHK speaks of alarm signals

The head of the IHK department for the topics of the region, voluntary work and politics, Elke Christian, dealt with current issues (energy and guest price development) and introduced herself to the members in the Ebersberg area for the first time.

She spoke of an alarm signal if many companies in Upper Bavaria had decided not to invest in the future for the time being.
