Gantz also said that an agreement with Lebanon, if reached, will be presented to the public and placed on the Knesset's table • "During negotiations, the details cannot be disclosed to the public"

Defense Minister Benny Gantz commented today (Sunday) on the negotiations being conducted through the American mediator on the maritime border with Lebanon and the gas issue.

In a post he published on Facebook, he wrote that "During negotiations, the details cannot be disclosed to the public, but if we do reach a final version of the agreement, it will be placed on the Knesset's table and its main points will be presented to the public in an orderly and transparent manner. All this, of course, in accordance with the Ombudsman's instructions... I suggest For former Prime Minister Netanyahu, who worked together with former Energy Minister Steinitz and me on the formation of the agreement and even before that years ago, to request an orderly update on the issue before he gives fuel to Nasrallah's propaganda that endangered and still endangers the agreement."

When he aimed at the criticism that opposition leader Binyamin Netanyahu hurled at the emerging agreement.

"The agreement is not a guarantee to prevent future friction with Lebanon, but there is no doubt that it will strengthen stability, deterrence, and in the long run will also weaken Lebanon's dependence on Iran, which supplies it with fuel and other means. Either way, the IDF and all security forces continue to be prepared for all the arenas and also in the northern arena to protect the citizens of Israel and our energy assets - regardless of the negotiations, all the time, 24/7, and that's how it will continue to be."

Lt. Col. (retd) Gadi Eisenkot (state camp) also addressed the issue and said, "If there is a possibility to create a common denominator that will prevent regional deterioration in the future, then it is a right step.

The opposition leader's statement is a challenge to Israeli democracy."
