Suspicious drone flights were spotted near a Bundeswehr location in Bavaria.

Was it espionage?

The police are investigating.

Wildflecken - On the night of Saturday (October 1st), suspicious drones were discovered in the night sky in Wildflecken in the Lower Franconian district of Bad Kissingen.

The police began investigations.

The drones also flew over the grounds of a Bundeswehr troop training area.

According to media reports, Ukrainian soldiers are also being trained there.

Bundeswehr training area in Wildflecken: Dozens of drones sighted

On Saturday there were "repeated drone overflights of several drones over the Bundeswehr property and the adjacent Wildflecken military training area," said a spokeswoman for the Federal Ministry of Defense of the AFP news agency on Sunday.

It is unclear who let the drones fly over the Bundeswehr site.

The police were informed immediately and began investigating.

These were still ongoing.

"There was never any danger to the population," emphasized the spokeswoman.

According to the magazine, the strangers tried to spy on the Bundeswehr base in Wildflecken.

Ukrainian soldiers are also being trained there on armored Dingo vehicles.

In September, Berlin Kyiv had promised the delivery of 50 such vehicles.

The armed wheel transporter is used for patrol and reconnaissance trips.

The Ministry of Defense did not comment on the possible originators of the drone action in Wildflecken.

Speculations were raised that Russia could be behind the action.

The military counter-intelligence service (MAD) noticed suspicious vehicles in the vicinity of the military bases in Idar-Oberstein in Rhineland-Palatinate and Grafenwöhr in Bavaria, from which access roads to the barracks were probably observed.

Drone flights over wild spots: the police are investigating

According to the police headquarters in Lower Franconia, the criminal police are now investigating.

A police spokesman in Würzburg said emergency services were on site in Wildflecken, also to determine who might be responsible.

Whether the sighted objects were actually drones cannot be confirmed with conclusive certainty at this time.
