Tartous Governor Abdel Halim Khalil praised the good manners embodied by the people of Arwad Island, which expresses the originality of the Syrians, during their assistance in rescuing the victims of the sinking Lebanese boat, conveying to them the greetings and appreciation of President Bashar al-Assad.
Khalil said during his meeting with the people of the island at the Cultural Center in Arwad: You have given the world a lesson in humanity, and you have embodied the clearest picture of the morals and authenticity of the Syrians. drowned;
The governor indicated that the meeting today aims to identify the service reality of the island, and to learn about the problems and difficulties experienced by its people, so that they can be addressed with all the available possibilities, and to advance the reality of the island.
In addition, the people of Arwad Island presented their service demands, which centered on the necessity of isolating and paving the port basin, to accommodate the largest number of fishermen’s boats and boats, and to increase the hours of electric feeding and fuel allocations for heating and boats, while securing a specific yard and center in Tartous to sell fish directly to citizens.
The people also demanded, during the meeting, which was attended by the service team in the governorate, to renew the boat’s license papers in the event of the death of its owner, in order to facilitate its continuation of work, reinvest the automated bakery in it, complete the school’s restoration, and regulate traffic with solving communication network problems.
In turn, the Secretary of the party branch, Muhammad Hussein, said during the meeting: The efforts of the people of Arwad towards the passengers of the boat reflect high authenticity and patriotism, pointing to the follow-up of citizens' demands with the concerned authorities, to find appropriate solutions within the available possibilities.
After that, the governor, the party branch secretary and the accompanying delegation were briefed on the service centers on the island, where the governor indicated in a statement to reporters that today's meeting with the people of Arwad was devoted to discussing issues of concern to the citizen, some of which were addressed immediately, while the rest of the issues and demands will be followed up with the concerned authorities. to address them, and find appropriate solutions to them.
