The main ultra-conservative Iranian newspaper

was attacked on Saturday October 1 by "
rioters
", announced the daily, which had described as "
mercenaries of the enemy
" those who protest against the death, mid-September, of Mahsa Amini, a young woman arrested by the morality police.

Thugs, who had sparked riots in recent days in the country, gathered outside the headquarters of the daily Kayhan, threw Molotov cocktails and tried to enter the building shouting insults and slogans against the newspaper
", said the daily.
The "
rioters
" damaged part of the building, the daily said.
The attack came during the nightly protests that have taken place daily since the September 16 death of Mahsa Amini, a 22-year-old Iranian Kurd who was arrested three days earlier for breaching the Islamic Republic's strict dress code, which requires women in particular to to wear the veil.

This daily is Iran's main conservative newspaper, whose boss is appointed by the Iranian Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
The repression of the demonstrations which have shaken the country since September 16 has caused the death of several dozen demonstrators.
Members of the security forces also died.
More than a thousand people were also arrested across the country.
