Munich – There is a lot to discuss for Olaf Scholz (SPD) and Emmanuel Macron.
When the French President visits the Chancellor in Berlin for a joint dinner on Monday - the day of German unity - much will revolve around the Ukraine war and the energy crisis rampant in Europe.
The question will be how Germany and the Grande Nation will get through the winter, which will certainly bring some hardships with it.
Very likely to a degree that large parts of both populations have not yet experienced.
The focus is on electricity and gas supply.

Ukraine war: Macron confirms European support in telephone call with Zelenskyj
Likewise, Scholz and Macron will probably vote to support Ukraine in its fight against Russia.
According to a report in the newspaper
Le Monde
, France is ready to send six to twelve more Caesar-type howitzers into the war zone.
Certainly combined with the hope that the actual defenders' counteroffensive would gain additional momentum and that the invaders sent by Kremlin boss Vladimir Putin would be able to push back behind the actual borders more quickly.
The Éliyséepalast did not confirm such plans.
However, before his trip to Germany, Macron phoned Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
The French leader reaffirmed the country's determination to help Ukraine restore its full sovereignty and territorial integrity.
He would also work with his European partners towards new sanctions against Russia.
In the phone call, Macron also condemned the arrest of the head of the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant by Russian troops.
According to the Élyséepalast, both presidents also emphasized that an exchange of Ukrainian personnel, who ensure the operation and safety of Europe's largest nuclear power plant, should be sought.
