Federal Minister of Justice Marco Buschmann has recommended that the federal states ignore the isolation recommendations of the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) in the corona pandemic.
»The countries can decide that at their own discretion.
There is only one recommendation from the RKI," said the FDP politician of the "Bild am Sonntag".
“If a federal state is convinced that it is justifiable to lift isolation requirements, it can do so.
So I can only call out to these state governments: Go ahead, you have every opportunity!"
The RKI recommends ordering five days of isolation for infected people.
It also strongly advises only ending the isolation if a (self-)test is negative.
Health and care workers should also have been symptom-free 48 hours before the test was taken.
Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria, Hesse and Schleswig-Holstein have asked Federal Health Minister Karl Lauterbach (SPD) in a joint letter to ensure that the federal authority RKI changes its recommendation.
People should stay at home on their own responsibility in the event of corona disease.
Lauterbach immediately rejected this.
In view of the increasing number of cases, one does not want to "pour oil on the fire" and increase the risk of infections occurring in companies or at meetings.
The liberal health expert Christine Aschenberg-Dugnus said in Berlin on Wednesday that the federal states could decide for themselves how long they should be isolated in the event of a corona infection.
"If the ministers demand the end of the isolation requirement, they can implement it now," said the parliamentary director of the FDP parliamentary group.
The Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Health said: "In our view, there should be uniform federal regulations in this important field." A patchwork quilt does not make sense.
In the past, the countries had always agreed on basic rules together and built on the recommendations of the RKI.
In an interview with the "Bild am Sonntag", Buschmann also held out the prospect of an end to all corona measures for next spring: "If the situation in the hospitals remains stable this winter, Corona is very likely to be part of the general life risk from spring and the final measures could expire,” the minister said.
"Then there would no longer be a requirement to wear masks in local and long-distance public transport."
