The latest opinion poll in Brazil revealed that former President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva is the most likely candidate to win the presidential elections taking place today.
AFP quoted the poll, the results of which were published by the Datafolia Institute on the eve of the poll, as saying that the left-wing leader Lula will receive fifty percent of the valid votes, compared to 36 percent for his direct rival, the far-right President Jair Bolsonaro.
A candidate must obtain a threshold of fifty percent plus one vote to be elected in the first round, and avoid a second round scheduled for October 30.
Another opinion poll published by IPIC revealed that 51 percent of the valid votes will go to Lula, compared to 37 percent for Bolsonaro in the first round.
