Ironically, a violent offender protected Meghan and Harry.

The former police officer was convicted of choking his wife.

London – It must have been a particularly terrible revelation for Meghan Markle (41).

The Duchess of Sussex has long campaigned for women's rights, particularly against gender-based violence.

But former police officer Pere Daobry, 51, was convicted of assaulting his wife Sarah Jay.

After his civil service career, he worked for the ducal couple as a bodyguard.

The Sussexes' bodyguard is a convicted felon

The 1.90 meter tall bodybuilder, who was previously a police officer at the Met, was convicted by an English court in 2016 of assaulting his wife.

He had choked her to the point that she was "seconds from death" after declaring she no longer loved him,

MailOnline

reports .

Daobry was pictured with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex in a Range Rover on September 5 as they left Frogmore Cottage en route to London's Euston station.

The bodyguard escaped jail because he himself called 999 after the attack and confessed to his crime.

In a traumatic interview, Sarah expressed her incomprehension at his escape.

She suffered at the hands of this madman for two years.

She was devastated that he would not have ended up behind bars.

He deserved it.

Comments on the Daily Mail revelation

The news of Daobry's conviction is likely to be particularly devastating for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, who work to raise awareness of domestic violence through their Archewell Foundation.

Archewell donated to Dallas-based charity Genesis Women's Shelter and Support last year after it was hit by storms.

Domestic violence activist David Challen said: "Pere Daobry is a violent, convicted domestic abuser who should be in prison and not bodyguarding Harry and Meghan.

"The security team that Daobry hired should be aware of his background and knowing that his employment is in stark contrast to the issues of women's rights and domestic abuse that the Sussexes are bravely championing."

The news should cause horror for the ducal couple

The

Daily Mail

's revelation should cause a stir, as Meghan has been campaigning for women's rights and against female violence for many years.

During the couple's tour of South Africa in 2019, Meghan gave a speech calling for violent men and boys to be held accountable.

Apparently, the ducal couple made a blatant mistake when hiring Daobrys.

In fact, Pere Daobry's employment does not reflect well on the couple, whose Archewell Foundation specifically aims to combat domestic violence.

The issue of personal security has already led to major disagreements between Harry and the Royal Family.

Queen Elizabeth II (96, † 2022) decided to deprive the couple of the title "Royal Highness".

In addition to the financial support from the royal family, police protection also fell away.

Since then, Harry and Meghan have had to take care of their own safety in the United States.
