Green councilor Dr.

In an emotional speech, Josef Raab declared his withdrawal from the Murnau committee.

The doctor's lust has been tainted by tension and the formation of camps.

The independent Claudia Lehmann, who will belong to the Greens parliamentary group, was sworn in as his successor.

Murnau

– A local council is not a petting zoo, not a place where you hand out cuddly toys or throw cotton balls at each other.

Fighting is tough there – if need be sometimes even with blows below the waistline.

The body that makes local politics in Markt Murnau is no exception to the rule. It, too, is made up of 24 individuals who belong to certain factions who sometimes try to force their way through, regardless of the consequences.

Josef Raab (Bündnis 90/Die Grünen) is fed up with the "tensions" and the "hostile groups among themselves", the "camp formation, which I see as a reflection of the divisions in our society" and the "lack of understanding for one another".

At the meeting on Thursday evening, he cited these reasons, among others,

Thanks for the "snack"

"I do it with a laughing and a crying eye," said Raab (66).

It's not a capitulation to the state of affairs with flying colors, but one with thoughtful words, having found his beginnings as a councilor "positive and encouraging."

His ex-colleagues listened to Raab's explanations with an impassive expression.

Vice Mayor Dr.

Julia Stewens (Free Voters), who chaired the meeting in the absence of City Hall boss Rolf Beuting (ÖDP/Citizens' Forum), thanked "for the lecture".

She hopes that he will continue to support the Greens with advice and action.

"They may need it too."

The day after, Raab spoke of "relief" that he had taken this step and again of the "frustration" that had befallen him in September 2021 after a municipal council meeting got out of hand.

His attempt to turn things around together with Wolfgang Küpper (ÖDP/Bürgerforum) came to nothing.

The plan to improve the working atmosphere with a retreat and an open dialogue with the help of an external moderator failed.

“We met some pretty nasty resistance at the meeting, so nothing has come of this project to this day.

I also encountered skepticism in a number of individual discussions.” He also missed the support of the mayors.

Raab, who works in psychotherapy, has scientifically approached the situation in the municipal council.

Raab has not completely renounced politics as a result of the events in the Murnau municipal council.

He would like to intensify his work with the peace organization "Doctors Against Nuclear War".

After Russian President Vladimir Putin repeatedly threatened to use nuclear weapons in the Ukraine war, "there is enough to do," says Raab.

He wants to remain a member of Bündnis 90/Die Grünen for the time being, although there were also tensions within the party, but these were apparently at a personal level.

"We were always on the same wavelength when it came to technical issues," says Raab.

What Green Group spokeswoman Veronika Jones-Gilch confirms.

She admits, however, "that we are human too - like in every group".

Claudia Lehmann moves up

Raab had already approached his successor Claudia Lehmann (58) in July and she meant that she would probably take his place.

Lehmann was only number three on the list of replacements.

Helen Seyringer, who received exactly as many votes as Hans Kohl in the 2020 local elections and only received a spot on the municipal council after the lottery, no longer lives in Murnau.

Leonhard Schrank, husband of the former parliamentary group spokeswoman for the Öko-Party Stephanie Neumeir-Schrank, gave up the mandate - as we hear, for family reasons.

That was never an option for Lehmann, who will be a member of the main administration and works committees.

“I was on the list so I have to do the job.

And I feel like it.” As an independent member of the Bündnis 90/Die Grünen parliamentary group,

after she left the party about a year ago.

The reason?

"I had the impression that being a member of a party doesn't suit me." However, she shares the goals of the Greens and wants to campaign for the transport and climate change.

"I have the feeling that the parliamentary group and I can work well together." She describes her impression of her first municipal council meeting as positive: "It was quite harmonious." That's how Raab initially felt.

The end is known.
