The prices for shared rooms have risen nationwide, but in Bavaria it is particularly expensive for students.

It is not easy to find a room in Regensburg either.

Regensburg - In a few days the new semester will start at the colleges and universities in Bavaria.

Thousands of students are drawn to well-known university cities such as Passau, Ingolstadt and Munich.

The search for an apartment is anything but relaxed.

The students have to be prepared for high rents for apartments and shared rooms.

Of course, this is nothing new in the state capital.

But the prices are surprising in other cities, including Regensburg.

A current study shows how expensive the popular shared rooms in particular have become.

Regensburg in Bavaria-wide comparison in the upper midfield

The city on the Danube is very popular for studying: more than 30,000 young people come to Regensburg every year for the summer and winter semesters.

A study by the Moses Mendelssohn Institute (MMI) in cooperation with the portal wg-gesucht.de revealed how much they have to pay for living there on average.

Across Germany, 95 university towns with at least 5,000 students were examined.

The result shows: In Bavaria, students pay the most nationwide, with an average of 520 euros for a shared room.

Regensburg is in the upper midfield.

An average of 435 euros is normal for the city on the Danube.

Regensburg: The time-consuming search for an apartment is worth it

While students in Deggendorf and Passau pay 375 euros and 400 euros less for a room, the prices in Ingolstadt and Munich are, as expected, significantly higher.

Anyone who has secured a place at the University of Regensburg, the East Bavarian Technical University or the Academy of Design must be prepared for a nerve-wracking search for an apartment and steep prices.

But since Regensburg has a lot to offer, especially for young people and students, the effort is worth it.
