The municipality of Forstern and the local horticultural association plant hedges at the end of the town and in the town centre.

Forstern

– More plants for Forstern: The municipality wants to ensure more greenery both at the southern end of town and in the area of the town centre.

The Association for Horticulture and Homeland Care is taking the lead here.

By the way: Everything from the region is now also available in our regular Erding newsletter.

At the municipal council meeting, Mayor Rainer Streu (AWG) explained that a number of meetings with representatives of the association had already taken place on this topic.

As reported, the community had applied for the so-called Bavarian Bloom Pact of the Bavarian Ministry of the Environment.

In the course of this application process, together with district consultant Michael Klinger from the district office, some areas were looked at in which the planting of hedges could improve the value.

One of them is the area near the gabion noise barrier in the south of Forstern.

Among other things, thujas in plant troughs - the current sight causes criticism again and again among the citizens, reported the mayor.

According to expert adviser Klinger, this is ideal for a flowering hedge.

According to Streu, the horticultural association would like to go even further and also improve the wall next to it a bit.

The second area is in the center of the village near the gravel area.

As reported, the Freising State Building Authority had asked the municipality to close two of the four access roads to the area.

This should be done with trees.

The gardeners have solicited bids for these plantings.

The association would also take over the work with the support of the building yard.

The cheapest offer was 10,500 euros including a discount of 35 percent on the plants.

According to Streu, it is about hedge plants, which are already being bought in different heights, as well as ground covers.

The hedges would be planted over a total length of 60 meters.

The list includes, for example, service pear, five-fingered shrub or viburnum.

Maria Feckl (Greens) thanked the horticultural association, whose chairmen Ludwig Hiebinger and Roswitha Riepl had come to the meeting, for their commitment "to making Forstern greener".

In any case, she is in favor of the planting, because "that will enhance the townscape on the gravel square in a very positive way," Feckl is sure.

And Simona Loupal (SPD/independent) was also enthusiastic: "Forster is colorful - I think that's great."

The municipal council authorized the horticultural association to purchase the plants as submitted.

The plantings are expected to be completed this fall.
