Russia called for the extension of the armistice in Yemen, which expires today.
And a statement issued by the Russian embassy in Yemen, and published on its page on its Twitter account, stated, “Russia, as a permanent member of the Security Council, expresses its concern about the lack of progress in securing the agreement on extending the armistice before its expiry on the 2nd of this month, and calls on all The parties to revitalize their dialogue with the UN Special Envoy in order to reach an agreement on the extension of the armistice.”
The statement added: "The Chargé d'Affairs at the Russian Embassy in Yemen Yevgeny Kodrov affirmed support for the efforts of the UN Special Envoy for Yemen," stressing that "the extension of the armistice aims to achieve a comprehensive political settlement in Yemen through negotiations."
On August 2, the United Nations announced the agreement to extend the armistice in Yemen for two additional months, according to the same conditions.
