Dozens of MKs signed a letter that they pledge to strengthen the settlement in Judea and Samaria • Precisely those who define themselves as state-right - did not sign

Dozens of Knesset members and Knesset candidates, led by opposition leader Benjamin Netanyahu, signed a letter in which they pledge to promote large-scale construction in Judea and Samaria after the elections.

For the first time in the election cycle, all the leaders of the right-wing parties signed the letter - Minister Ayelet Shaked, MK Bezalel Smotrich and Yitzhak Goldknopf, the three members of the Knesset who define themselves as right-wing in the state camp - Minister Gideon Sa'ar, Minister Ze'ev Elkin and MK Matan Kahana refused to sign the document. But the latter two stated in response to "Israel Today" that they are committed to building in Judea and Samaria.

In a letter initiated by Yehudit Katsober and Nadia Mater from the Sovereignty Association, as part of the "RE:Sovereignty" project, they referred to the issue of overcrowding in Israel, and noted that the land reserves in Judea and Samaria are the solution to the construction crisis.

"In the territories of the State of Israel, there are valuable land reserves in areas of demand that are not being used. The plight of housing prices in the center of the country requires massive construction in the adjacent areas of Yosh.

Building thousands of housing units on the Tel Aviv-Ariel axis will lead to a dramatic increase in the supply of land for construction and a significant reduction in housing prices."

The letter was signed by 55 MKs and candidates, including most of the Knesset members and the rallying candidates from the Likud movement, led by Netanyahu, as well as Miri Regev, Eli Cohen, Yariv Levin, Miki Zohar, Amichai Shikli, Danny Danon, Shlomo Karai, Yoav Kish, Amir Ohana, Ofir Akunis, and other MKs.

On behalf of the Jewish Home, Interior Minister Ayelet Shaked, Yossi Brodani, and other candidates and MKs signed. On behalf of Torah Judaism, only party chairman Yitzhak Goldknopf, Yaakov Tesler and Meir Porosh signed.

From religious Zionism, all the sitting MKs signed, including Bezalel Smotrich, Ofir Sofer and Orit Strock, except for MK Itamar Ben Gabir and Shas, all current members of the Knesset signed, as well as party chairman Aryeh Deri.

Those who are conspicuous by their absence in the letter are the members of the Knesset of the state camp who define themselves as right-wing, this is because it is a clear right-wing move that receives a broad consensus.

"Israel Hayom" learned that a request was made to the Minister of Justice Gideon Sa'ar, the Minister of Housing Ze'ev Elkin and the MK Matan Kahana, but they did not reply to the letter and did not sign it.

MK Matan Kahana's office stated that "the former minister supports the strengthening of settlements in Judea and Samaria and will work towards this in any government in which he takes part."

Minister Ze'ev Elkin's office stated: "During Minister Elkin's tenure as Minister of Construction and Housing, thousands of apartments were put up for marketing in Judea and Samaria."

There was no response from Minister Saar's office.
