Anyone who is elderly or in need of care will be happy to receive support in everyday life.

But caring relatives are also relieved when someone helps them.

There are offers from the Zammlebn neighborhood aid association.

There will be a lecture on October 4th.

Benediktbeuern/Bichl – The offer called “Everyday support” has been around for a long time, but now the Zammlebn neighborhood help association has expanded it.

Initially, it was geared in particular to people with dementia, reports project manager Vanessa Elsasser.

It has now been expanded to include all people in need of care who find it difficult or increasingly difficult to cope with everyday life.

Relatives who look after a person can also get in touch at any time.

"With our everyday support close to home, we want to close an ever-worsening supply gap," says Elsasser.

Because even in rural areas one has to be prepared for a growing number of people in need of support.

The offer is intended to help avoid or postpone moving into a nursing home for as long as possible.

"Because even in inpatient long-term living, a glaring shortage of nursing staff is to be expected," says the social worker.

Volunteers come home

So that those affected can live at home for as long as possible, volunteers trained by Zammlebn come home by the hour.

For example, they cook together, go for walks, visit the cemetery or “just gossip,” says Elsasser.

What is done is done in individual consultation.

There are currently eleven volunteers between Schlehdorf and Bad Heilbrunn who look after 15 clients in this area.

Although the core area of the association is Benediktbeuern-Bichl, they are open to other communities in the Loisachtal valley - both on the part of the helpers and on the part of the clients.

Subsidy from the care fund

All helpers have gone through a training course that is offered twice a year in Bad Tölz or Wolfratshausen.

It was designed by the State Office for Nursing and comprises 40 hours, at the end of which you receive a certificate.

The volunteers receive an expense allowance for their work.

For all clients who use the offer, it is important to know that it can be billed to the long-term care insurance fund within the framework of the so-called relief amount.

125 euros per month are available for this.

Anyone who can prove a degree of care (one to five) is eligible.

“However, 80 percent of those entitled do not know anything about it and let it expire,” regrets Mariele Wolf von Zammlebn.

The association also offers to take over the settlement with the nursing care fund.

It is also interesting to know that other care budgets can also be converted so that they are included in the relief amount.

In addition, you can save it.

Details can be clarified in consultation with your own long-term care insurance.

This is not done by the helpers

What Zammlebn does not provide as part of this offer is domestic help, i.e. caring or cleaning, for example.

Driving services are also not provided.

Anyone who would like to accept the offer of “everyday support” can contact Elsasser.

There are then discussions and also an appointment with the family to find the right helper.

"It's always the same person who comes," says Elsasser.

The volunteers are also given professional support.

Information and lecture:

Further information is available from Vanessa Elsasser on telephone 0 88 57/39 62 or email unterstuetzung-im-alltag@zammlebn.de.

In addition, on Tuesday, October 4, at 7 p.m., there will be a lecture in the Bonhoeffer House in Benediktbeuern, in which Dieter Kaufman will speak about dealing with people suffering from dementia.

Buyer headed the AWO dementia center in Wolfratshausen and is chairman of the Alzheimer's Society Isar-Loisachtal.

There is also a book table in the Benediktbeur parish and community library with literature on the subject of dementia until mid-October.
