The competitions of the Governorate Chess Championship for veterans, which were set up by the Technical Committee of the game, under the supervision of the Executive Committee of the Sports Federation branch, were concluded this evening, with the participation of 27 players from various clubs in the governorate.
The first place in the championship was won by Nasser Saeed, followed by Ihsan Kanaan, Mazen Qaisiya, Abdi Zarifa and Alaa Alam El Din, respectively.
The head of the Chess Technical Committee in Sweida, Eng. Rifaat Khader, said in a statement to SANA that the tournament was held in the manner of the Swiss League of seven rounds, and witnessed a good technical level and strong competition, and the result was not decided except for the final round.
At the end of the tournament, the first winners were crowned in the presence of Hamad Al-Saad, a member of the Chess Federation.
