Yuval Kahan, former head of the "Bnei Zion" pre-military training camp, testified today (Sunday) before the District Court of Bashkortostan in the evidence phase of the ongoing trial regarding the disaster in Nahal Tzfit. Kahan is accused of reckless homicide and causing serious injury.
During his testimony, Kahan said: "I was responsible for this trip as the head of the preparatory school, Aviv Berdichev (the guide on the trip) was in charge on the ground on my behalf. And he made decisions. I am the head of the preparatory school, they presented me to the police as if he were in charge on the ground - so I am nothing. For a moment I didn't act like that. Today I feel that I wasn't right, that I didn't investigate other things."

Kahn clarified in his testimony that "in real time, when I realized that they were on a trip to the river, I was sure that everything was fine, according to my instructions, that if they were followed there was no danger. I inquired a little, but I realize today that I should have inquired more, what the plan was, what was going on. In retrospect, because I see that things weren't clear. If I had inquired a little more, things would have gone up and I could have stopped. I only knew that we were going to see a flood. There is no danger in seeing a flood, when you consult with someone local who knows and tells you how to go."

Kahan pointed out that there are entire programs in which he was not involved: "I do not cut off my responsibility, but there are tours of entire programs in which I was not involved. There were entire series, even in Tel Aviv or Pardes Hana that I did not visit even once. "S and Baloni Yitzchak - an adventure trip.
