Turkey: demonstrations in several cities in support of Iranian women

“: Hundreds of people demonstrated on Sunday in Turkey, in Istanbul and Diyarbakir, a large city in the south-east with a Kurdish majority, brandishing portraits of Iranian women killed in the repression of demonstrations which are shaking Iran.

In Kadikoy, a district on the Asian side of Istanbul, hundreds of women and men - including many Iranians - chanted slogans against the Tehran regime and in support of Iranian women, according to a videographer from the AFP.

Protesters waved red roses, others Iranian flags and “

” signs, the flagship slogan of the protest movement sparked by the death of the young Iranian Kurd Mahsa Amini after her arrest by the morality police .

In Diyarbakir, a city 350 km from the Iranian border, nearly 200 people, the majority of whom were women, also gathered on Sunday afternoon, an AFP correspondent noted.

The demonstrators held up photos of several Iranian women killed since the start of the wave of repression, as well as placards and a large banner bearing the slogan "

A demonstration in support of Iranian women was also held on Saturday evening in Izmir (west), the third largest city in Turkey, bringing together several hundred people, according to images published on social networks and verified by AFP.
