The man tested positive for COVID-19 on September 1.
He left his residence on September 3 while his "Vaccine Pass" showed a "red code" and scanned his "Vaccine Pass" at the catering premises under the "Vaccine Pass".
He was charged with contravening sections 32(1) and 32(3) of the Regulation and was fined $2,000 at the West Kowloon Magistrates' Courts today.
The Regulation stipulates that no person who knows himself to be infected with a specified infectious disease shall not by his presence in or by his conduct in any public transport, street, public place, place of entertainment, meeting place, club or hotel , and put others at risk of infection.
Violations of the Regulation constitute a criminal offence and offenders can be fined up to $10,000 and imprisoned for six months.
A spokesman for the Department of Health said that the sentencing can give the community a very clear message, pointing out that it is a criminal offence to leave a designated isolation place without authorization during the diagnosis of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and put the public at risk of infection.
