District/Denklingen – There are 71 fire brigades in the district of Landsberg.

And 68 commanders were entitled to vote when the new District Fire Council was elected in Denklingen.

Of these, 62 votes went to Christoph Resch from Eresing – a made-to-measure debut.

He is 37 years old and thus - in comparison to all surrounding districts - the youngest district fire councillor.

Even if he was the only candidate: The clear result "blew his socks off", Christoph Resch commented on the new election after the meeting.

When he accepted the election in the Citizens' and Clubs' Center in Denklingen, he saw the result (62 out of 68 votes) as a solid basis of trust.

In the future, however, he also wants to convince the last six commanders.

From 2019 to 2022, Resch was district fire inspector for the north area, which includes the city of Landsberg and the communities north of it.

From 2015 to 2019 he was district fire chief in section 6 in the east of the district.

In Eresing, where he lives with his wife Stefanie and their three-year-old daughter, he was deputy commander for nine years.

Professionally, Resch is employed by the plant fire brigade at the Technical University of Garching.

Due to the distance, however, he can only be on site for a few operations in the district.

The permanent representative of the district fire council, which Resch will nominate, will therefore play an important role.

The new district fire councilor Resch still has to be confirmed by the government of Upper Bavaria after the election in Denklingen.

District administrator Thomas Eichinger, who acted as election officer and suggested Resch, was among the first to congratulate him, his predecessors Johann Koller and Rüdiger Sobotta, district fire chief of Weilheim-Schongau and chairman of the district fire brigade association in Upper Bavaria.

After the meeting, Resch received numerous other congratulations.

Important issues for him as the new district fire council are a possible blackout in the power supply, being prepared for forest fires and finally the transition to full operation in the new fire brigade training center in Pürgen, the new chief of the fire department in the district understands it.

Koller's last report

Long-lasting applause went to Johann Koller from Petzenhausen, who, as Resch's predecessor, held the office of district fire councilor for 15 years and has now resigned at the age of 64.

District Administrator Eichinger announced that his farewell will take place on a separate evening party: "Today I haven't brought any presents with me".

Eichinger promised that this should happen "before the fire brigade training center in Pürgen opens".

In his last report as district fire councillor, Johann Koller reported that the 71 fire departments in the district have a total of a good 3,000 active members.

Among them are 328 women.

There are also a good 500 young people, including 122 girls and women.

The hours of use (a good 23,000) fell sharply in 2020 due to the corona lockdowns and remained low in 2021, but at least increased again slightly.

2,065 times fire departments in the district of Landsberg were called out;

They were called out a good 1,300 times to provide technical assistance, for example in the event of an accident.

Fires had to be fought 299 times.
