Former minister Zandberg was convicted of breach of trust Israel today

Tel Aviv District Court Judge Tali Chaimovitz today (Monday) convicted Eliezer (Mudi) Zandberg, the minister and former chairman of Keren Hayesod who is accused in case 3000 ("the submarines"), for the offense of breach of trust in his relationship with Miki Ganor. As part of the plea deal, the punishment part of which still requires the approval of the court, the former minister is expected to be sentenced to seven months in prison, which will be served as service offenses, as well as a fine of NIS 3,000 and a suspended sentence.

The sentence is expected to be handed down in December.

According to the revised indictment, Zandberg served between 2010-2018 as the chairman of Keren Hayesod and had a working relationship with many government officials. Following the desire of ThyssenKrupp Corporation agent Miki Ganor, whom Zandberg knew, in receiving information regarding contacts between Israel and Germany for the purchase of defense ships From Thyssenkrupp and to promote contacts, Zandberg arranged three meetings between Ganor and the director of the Prime Minister's office at the time, Eyal Haimovski, and participated in the meetings.

All this while Ganor paid Zandberg, between 2012-2016, on seven occasions a total of NIS 103,000.

According to the amended indictment, in doing so as mentioned, Zandberg acted while being in a conflict of interest between the ongoing business relationship between him and Ganor and the receipt of funds from Ganor, and his awareness of the significant economic interests held by Ganor regarding the promotion of vessel transactions from the ThyssenKrupp Corporation - and his position as chairman of Keren Hayesod, which He should have used it to advance the cause of Keren Hayesod only. In doing so, according to the indictment, Zandberg caused a substantial injury to the purity of morals, public trust and the integrity of the director's actions.
