The Secretary for Housing, Ho Wing-yin, published a blog today (3rd), mentioning that the Housing Authority has renovated flats for 22,000 PRH tenants with special mobility needs over the past ten years to facilitate their daily lives.
Ho Wing-yin pointed out that he is very pleased to see his colleagues go one step further and improve the living environment of the residents from small places, so that the "house" where the residents live becomes a warmer "home".
Ho Wing-yin pointed out in his blog that Housing Authority staff and Housing Bureau political assistant Ouyang Wenqian recently visited Ms. Ma, a resident of Wo Lok Village, because the Housing Department had previously helped her son, Mr. Ma, who relies on a wheelchair, refit the flat to facilitate her life.
Mr. Ma's mother pointed out that every time his son went to the bathroom, he had to pass through the kitchen and the terrace, and he had to cross several thresholds and "downgrades" on the way, which was not easy for him to cross.
Sometimes her son falls at home, and Ms. Ma finds it difficult to help him up.
Ms. Ma said that after receiving the letter of advice from the physiotherapist, the HA soon arranged for staff to come to study how to refit the unit.

The HA helped them set up metal ramps at the entrance of the unit, install handrails in the kitchen and bathroom, raise the floor of the terrace, lower the threshold, and replace the toilet with a suitable toilet.
