While the remuneration of the booklet A had increased from 1 to 2% on August 1, a new increase will not be granted to savers in early November.
This was announced on Sunday, October 2, by a spokesperson for the Banque de France to Le
Parisien
: “
There will be no exceptional increase in the rate of the Livret A in November, any more than there there were last May.
The revaluation on August 1 was significant, even more so on the People's Savings Account.
The rate of the latter actually went from 2.2% to 4.6%.
This possibility of an intermediate increase has been permitted since a decree of January 2021 on the interest rates of regulated savings products.
“
On April 15 and October 15 of each year, if the Banque de France considers that the variation in inflation or in the money markets justifies it, the governor may propose to the Minister in charge of the Economy to revise the rates (…) on May 1 or November 1,
“says the text.
However, since the implementation of this order, no intermediate boost has been offered.
This would therefore have been a first when inflation is still high, with a rate of 5.6% in September over one year.
The increase in the remuneration of passbooks would not have been negligible since by applying the current formula, the passbook rate would have risen to 2.7% and the popular savings passbook to 5.4% on 1 November.
