The Nobel Prize Committee has announced that Swedish biologist Svante Pappo has won this year's prize in the Medicine and Physiology category.
Agence France-Presse reported that the aforementioned scientist won the award for his explorations related to the genes of extinct hominins, and research on human evolution.
In 2021, the Nobel Prize in Physiology and Medicine was awarded to the two American scientists, neuroscientist Erdem Patabutian and physiologist David Julius, for their discovery of receptors that respond to temperature and touch.
The Nobel Prize winners are announced annually at the beginning of October of each year, while the honoring takes place in December on the anniversary of the death of Alfred Nobel, the inventor of gunpowder.
