Al-Hasakah farmers continue to harvest the areas planted with cotton, with the quantities of cotton harvested to date amounting to 11,431 tons from the various cultivated areas.
The head of the Plant Production Department, Eng. Jalal Bilal, said in a statement to SANA reporter that harvesting operations spread throughout the governorate planted with the crop, as the area harvested to date amounted to 3,875 hectares out of the total cultivated area, which amounted to 5,910 hectares spread throughout the agricultural areas where a fixed water source is available. Especially in the countryside of Hasaka and Qamishli and the first settlement area in the north of the governorate.
Bilal pointed out that the farmers will harvest the second batch of the crop during the next ten days.
It is noteworthy that the estimates of the Directorate of Agriculture for the production of the cotton crop in the governorate for the current season are approximately 19 thousand tons.
