Published: Shay Salmi is the suspect in the murder of his wife Yiffit Pourian

Shay Salmi is the suspect in the murder of his wife Yifit Purian in Rehovot - this is what the Rishon Lezion Magistrate's Court allowed to be published today (Monday).

It is suspected that Salmi stabbed his 31-year-old wife and set fire to their home during Rosh Hashanah.

Their four-year-old daughter was moderately injured and he was admitted to Kaplan Hospital and is still sedated and ventilated, in serious condition.

The court extended the detention of Salmi, a cook by profession, by 15 days.

The police are waiting for him to wake up to question him, still in the hospital.

In the meantime, the four children - aged one, four, six and seven - are staying with Furian's family in Holon.

Her funeral was held at the city cemetery on Thursday with the participation of dozens of relatives and friends.

Yafit's cousin welcomed the publication of the name of the suspect in the murder.

"We've been waiting for this since Tuesday, we want justice to be done," said her cousin, Liraz Bruchim, "to have this release and to be able to publish it."

She said that the family is focused on getting together, "for the sake of the children of Yiffite".

"Four little children whose whole world has turned upside down," she continued, "this is our goal right now - to unite and bring justice to light."

She told about Yiffite who was murdered, "She was a very smiling girl since she was little. Funny, loved her family, a great mother to her children. She gave them everything, everything a family could ask for. We are always told that she was always uplifting. We would always find You are the best with her."

Salmi left behind a suicide note and a will on the night of the murder.

In a letter placed in his personal drawer in the living room that night, he addressed his children and family and wrote: "I decide to end my way in this life,

The incident began with receiving a report from fire and rescue officials about a fire in the city, and at the end of extinguishing the flames, Purian was found lifeless, with signs of violence on her body.

Salmi was found in critical condition with burns and stab wounds and was taken to the hospital along with his daughter, who has since been released, while his father, the children's grandfather, was slightly injured by smoke inhalation and was taken to Sheba Hospital in Tel Hashomer.

The grandfather said that he arrived at the door of his son's apartment and tried to open the door, but the latter would not let him.

"I talked to him, he told me 'just a minute', and I saw smoke coming out of the frame. I ran fast, brought a hammer and pulled him out."

The couple, who had been married for nine years, were not known to the social services and the police had not reported any previous incidents or complaints between them.
