The National Archives and Records Administration reported to the House Oversight and Reform Committee that some documents belonging to the Government of Donald Trump have not yet been delivered, contrary to what is dictated by the Presidential Records Act.

In a letter sent Friday to the panel's chair, Rep. Carolyn Maloney, D-New York, acting archivist Debra Steidel Wall said the panel is still trying to recover records from Trump administration officials who "conducted official business." using unofficial electronic messaging accounts”.

“While there is no easy way to establish absolute liability, we know that we do not have custody of everything that we should,” Wall wrote.

The National Archives, he said, will consult with the Justice Department on whether it is necessary to "initiate an action for the recovery of illegally deleted records."

Wall noted that the Justice Department sued former Trump White House adviser Peter Navarro to obtain official email records.

Navarro was also ordered to stand trial next month on charges of contempt of Congress for refusing to comply with a subpoena from the House committee investigating the Jan. 6 riots.
