With a tweet about the war in Ukraine, Karl Lauterbach (SPD) recently encountered opposition within his own party.

The Federal Minister of Health has now commented on this.

"Of course we're not a war party," said Lauterbach on RTL/ntv's "Frühstart" program.

Lauterbach had previously written on Twitter in a subordinate clause: "We are at war with Putin".

The SPD politician was referring to statements by the publicist Richard David Precht.

He had demanded that individual NATO states should guarantee Russia that Ukraine would not be included in the alliance.

Lauterbach's party colleague, Federal Defense Minister Christine Lambrecht, then contradicted him.

"It is very clear - both for the German federal government and for the entire NATO: We will not become a war party," said Lambrecht on Sunday in the ARD program "Report from Berlin".

According to Lambrecht, the principle of not becoming a party to the war »guided us from the start.

And that hasn't changed either.«

Lambrecht was "completely right" when he said that Germany was not a party to the war, Lauterbach said.

"Nevertheless, we are fully on the side of the Ukrainians." He considers Precht's demand to be completely naive, said Lauterbach.

"We must clearly stand with Ukraine and also give the signal that we are with you, we will help you, we will supply you with weapons." «

Lauterbach had already written on Twitter: “To be honest, what are kneeling before Putin supposed to bring?” Victory in the form of the liberation of Ukraine must continue to be pursued consistently.

Whether the "psyche" of Russian President Vladimir Putin can cope with it is "indifferent" to him.
