The Liberian authorities announced the confiscation of cocaine worth $100 million and the arrest of two people, in connection with the incident in that West African country.

And the Associated Press quoted the authorities as saying: “Based on intelligence, two people were arrested, while searches are still underway for two other people, after an attempt to smuggle cocaine worth $100 million that was confiscated in Liberia.”

Officials explained that 520 kilograms of cocaine were hidden in a huge shipment of frozen poultry products that were delivered to a cold storage near the sea port of Monrovia.

The authorities indicated that "one person from Guinea-Bissau was arrested in the capital, Monrovia, while the other was arrested while trying to flee the country."

A spokesman for the Drug Enforcement Agency said: "Authorities are still searching for two other people, a Brazilian and a Portuguese who are still at large."

In turn, Minister of Justice Frank Musa Dean said: "Liberia will not be a haven for drug traffickers, either as a transit point or as a final destination," stressing that "the detainees will face the full force of the law."
