Tripoli-Sana

73 members of the Libyan State Council announced their refusal to sign the Interim National Unity Government, headed by Abdel Hamid al-Dabaiba, a memorandum of understanding with the Turkish regime in the oil field.

The members said in a joint statement published by Libyan media: “The signing of such vague memoranda, terms and objectives at such a time and divided political circumstance represents an attempt to impose a fait accompli,” expressing their rejection of what they described as “political opportunism by the Turkish regime.”

The statement indicated that this may put this system in the future in the face of the great national interests of Libya, and all serious national attempts to reach a consensus among Libyans towards restoring the state and its national decision, calling on the House of Representatives, the Presidential Council, and all political and social forces in Libya to reject what they described as “political absurdity.” leading to the usurpation of the national decision.”

Yesterday, the Dabaiba government signed a memorandum of understanding with the Turkish regime on oil and gas, which provoked rejectionist Libyan reactions, as Parliament Speaker Aqila Saleh considered the memorandum illegal and non-binding because the mandate of the Dabaiba government has expired by law.
