The Sinaloan Active Women's Collective denounced the event through its social networks, which it described as "apology for crime."

"There must be sanctions, in addition to guaranteeing non-repetition," the group said in a tweet in which it mentioned the City Council and the municipal president, Juan de Dios Gámez.

The group attached a capture of article 254 of the Penal Code for the State of Sinaloa, which indicates the application of up to two years in prison and up to 50 days of fine if the crime is not executed.

The Culiacán City Council sent a special statement in which it assured that it condemned "what happened", since it was "totally against" the principles and values ​​of the municipal authority.

The Sinaloa entity also defended being in favor of "the freedom of expression of all artists."

In the letter, the City Council indicated that the decision to include Featherweight in the event was made by the organizers at the "last minute", due to the cancellation of another artist.

The statement indicates that the 8 Music Fest was organized by a group of local businessmen.

"With these types of events, the Culiacán City Council seeks to support local talent, through the production of events in the city," the statement alleges.

The Mexican singer, who has more than seven million monthly listeners on Spotify.

In the statement, the City Council ensures that the artist performed musical themes that are included in the "narcocorridos", a musical genre in which the story that is told speaks of characters related to drug trafficking.
