Grainau – The Hammersbach-Grainau singing community celebrated its 30th anniversary with an atmospheric autumn song.

Actually the 32nd birthday, because the choir had to take a two-year break due to the pandemic, like so many cultural workers.

Choir director Hermann Unterkircher once again used his good relationships with singers and musicians to mark this anniversary and was able to fill the Herbstsingen with top-class musicians.

"Alpine songs are our field of activity alongside spiritual singing," emphasizes Unterkircher, who had guest groups from the Allgäu, Pfaffenwinkl, North and South Tyrol.

And of course with the Werdenfelser Geigenmusi and the Martini-Gsang from Garmisch also representatives from the immediate homeland.

The guests of honor were joined by Mayor Stephan Märkl and former Garmisch-Partenkirchen honorary citizen Pastor Franz Sand, as well as District Administrator Anton Speer.

With good reason.

Speer had a surprise in store for choirmaster Unterkircher.

For his 47 years as director of various choirs, he received the district's gold pin of honor for special, honorary activities.

And Georg Locher received the same award.

"He has made a name for himself by composing celebratory masses, playing the organ in the hospital chapel, as an actor at countless Valentine's Day evenings or as a choir member and organist of the singing community," explained the district administrator.

Other choir members, such as Theresia Kaiser, Jutta and Ewald Rathmann (30 years old), Silvia Gamböck, Hans Gerg (25 years old), Gertraud Kirchdorfer (15 years old) and Christian Schurz for 10 years, were honored by Mayor Märkl on behalf of the choir director for their Loyalty honored with certificates.

Under the moderation of Gausängerwart Peter Egner, two highly enjoyable hours followed with music, singing and Egner's humorous break fillers on the subject of beer.

Sometimes slim, sometimes worn, the Werdenfelser Geigenmusi played, the Martini-Gsang,

but also the Schramiger Zwoagsang from Brixen knew how to please with songs by Kathi Greinsberger (Fischbachau singers), the yodel duet Schöll from Niedersonthofen inspired with his clear voices and the Peitinger singers embodied the classic male singing.

The Kohlbründl Viergesang from Grinzens, which has often been a guest in Grainau, continued to impress with Prof.Mag.Peter Reitmeir on the harp.

Long-lasting applause was thus certain of the actors.

With Sepp Oberhöller's "Pfia Gott es liabe Leitln all", the host singing community said goodbye to their audience.

Not quite, because the next day the choir in the parish church performed the conclusion of the “30 Years of Singing Community” celebrations.

In addition, the festive mass "Missa in honorem sancti Antonii" by Georg Loecher was performed together with the Werdenfelser Geigenmusi.
