Master builder Sebastian Dietrich brought the suggestion from the works committee to also offer support for balcony power plants to the citizens of Schongau to the city council.

A decision has not yet been made.

One thing is clear: the city wants to remove all bureaucratic hurdles.

Schongau – The idea of Stefan Konrad (SPD) in the most recent works committee was to proceed according to the Peitinger model and to inject a maximum of 120 euros per balcony power plant (maximum two euros per KWp output).

With 100 balcony power plants, that would cost the city 12,000 euros (we reported).

These small PV systems have a maximum output of 600 watts compared to 3,000 to 12,000 watts in large power plants.

With the smaller modules with 380 watts, one would get an annual saving of 70 euros, Dietrich calculated, the investment costs would be amortized within five to nine years.

Create the conditions for balcony power plants in the entire city area - "with the exception of the old town"

Of course, there is the possibility of launching a funding program.

"But the more important point would be to create planning security for the citizens," emphasized the city master builder.

One should, for example, create the conditions through an exemption decision for all development plans so that such balcony power plants could be realized throughout the city.

“With the exception of the old town”, however, for which Dietrich at least promised that there could be new regulations in the near future, albeit to a limited extent.

As a reminder: It was only in May that a homeowner in Bauerngasse tried to install a PV system on the roof.

This was again denied to him with reference to the protection of the ensemble in the old town.

However, at that time there was a reference to a model project in Wasserburg am Inn, where various types of photovoltaic systems compatible with the old town were being examined.

They wanted to wait and see the results and present them in Schongau to see whether something could be derived for the old town.

So that the incentive for citizens is large enough, the city wants to "clear the obstacles out of the way"

Treasurer Werner Hefele questioned whether a subsidy of a maximum of 120 euros per system actually represents a major incentive for the public.

"And the effort that arises for the administration is not insignificant," he pointed out.

Dietrich was of the opinion that the mini power plants would pay off immediately.

"And we will remove the obstacles out of the way." Deputy Mayor Daniela Puzzovio, who chaired the meeting, called this "perhaps the most important promotion".

Gregor Schuppe (ALS) saw relief or funding for the balcony power plants as "a signal" that the city was sending.

"Someone who really depends on the 120 euros will not do it," he was sure.

"However, we will not reach those who are really in need."

However, there was nothing more than a picture of the mood on the subject at the meeting, and there was no vote.

"That was just a preliminary consultation, the parliamentary groups should form their own opinion," said Dietrich when asked by the SN.

He wants to put the issue of balcony power plants on the agenda at the next building committee meeting.

A possible subsidy, if this is desired by the majority, must then be prepared via the budget.
