Contaminated water in Hausham: It wasn't because of the wells

While the drinking water in Hausham had to be boiled because of the discovery of pseudomonas, clean water continued to come from the two wells in Haidmühl.

Hausham – Engineer Sepp Schreder informed the local council in Hausham about the status of research into the causes of germs in drinking water.

As is well known, the order from the health department in Miesbach on drinking water contamination has overtaken the community of Hausham twice since the beginning of July.

The good news was that the cleanest water was gushing out of the two fountains in Haidmühl the whole time.

The municipal councilors listened to Schreder's remarks with some disbelief that if the hospital had not been connected to the drinking water network, there would probably not have been a boiling order because of the discovery of pseudomonas: "Because of the rightly very high hygiene standards in the hospital, the drinking water in Hausham is also available checked this bacterial strain, otherwise this finding would not have taken place.”

Best water from wells in Haidmühl

The reason for this is that, according to scientific knowledge, this bacterium rarely causes diseases in people with an intact immune system, but can cause problems in weakened patients.

According to Schreder, it is difficult to say how high the load in the entire network really was: "Three samples of a quarter liter were taken at ten measuring points each working day, which corresponds to only a snapshot given the daily water output of around 1500 cubic meters from the two wells." The most important result was that the best water always flowed from the wells in Haidmühl.

Here, according to Schreder's conviction, the large-scale fencing of the sources has proven its worth.

Research into the causes of where the contamination arose in around 80 kilometers of pipeline and around 1,700 house connections is still open.

In order to counteract future pollution of the water, even greater care should be taken when connecting work and weak points in the pipe system, some of which is around 60 years old, should be found and repaired.

The suggestion made by Hans Harraßer (FW) and Harda von Poser (Greens) to disinfect the hospital water with a separate UV system would also be worth considering based on Schreder's experience.

Even after the boiling order has long since been lifted, the drinking water in Hausham continues to be chlorinated.
