Former US President Donald Trump has moved the battle with the American news giant to the legal arena, after his lawyers filed the lawsuit in Florida state court and are demanding astronomical damages.
At the center of the lawsuit is the network's response to allegations of fraud in the 2020 election, which Trump lost to Democratic candidate Joe Biden.
"A campaign of slander and defamation", that's how the former president's lawyers defined it, when at the same time they criticized the network's use of the term "the big lie", a concept with a Nazi connotation which is "intended to discredit, scare 'and scare' people", they added.
According to the legal document that was submitted last night (Monday), since January 2021, the network's journalists have used the words "the big lie" 7,700 times, and for that they are demanding compensation in the amount of 475 million dollars.
CNN has not commented on the issue so far.

The conflict between Trump and the American media, led by CNN, characterized his tenure and the press conferences from the White House became the scene of public spats between him and the network's journalists on an almost daily basis.
This damaged the image of the American media giant and since the appointment of Chris Licht as CEO of the company, it has been reported that he asked the journalists under him to avoid using the term "the big lie".
