Suspension from the public celebration of the sacraments for Don Giulio Mignani, the priest of Bonassola who has been fighting for some time in favor of rainbow families and who also exposed himself in the public debate on euthanasia.
The penal decree of the Diocese of La Spezia was notified today, 3 October.
Don Giulio "over the years - reads the notification - has repeatedly issued public statements, which have also appeared in various newspapers and television interviews, in which he has repeatedly supported positions that do not conform to the teaching of the Church".
Despite the penal precept with which he had been recalled, Don Giulio continued speaking on issues such as marriages and adoptions for homosexual couples, euthanasia and abortion.
The news spread quickly in the village of La Spezia, with some parishioners close to Don Giulio who want to mobilize in defense of the priest.
"The positions I have taken have never meant to be offensive or polemical towards the Church - explained Don Giulio -. What has always moved me is the concern that the Church can be considered more and more marginal and less and less credible in contemporary society. . To obviate the danger that the Church closes in sterile self-referentiality, it seems to me that the way is to allow all its members, including the clergy, to be able to freely express their desire for change ".
