Election in Lower Saxony: when will the first results be available - and when will the final result be?

The election in Lower Saxony is just around the corner.

Hanover – The elections in Lower Saxony will take place on October 9, 2022.

After five years, a new prime minister can be elected and the state parliament in Lower Saxony can be redesigned.

According to the current surveys (as of September 4th, 2022), it will be a head-to-head race between the current Prime Minister Stephan Weil (SPD) and his competitor Bernd Althusmann (CDU).

Weil is just ahead of Althusmann and if re-elected it would be his third term.

• SPD: 31 percent

• CDU: 27 percent

• Greens: 19 percent

• AfD: 7 percent

• FDP: 6 percent

• Left: 4 percent

• Other: 6 percent

The other parties have also set up their top bandits: Julia Willie Hamburg and Christian Meyer are running as a duo for the Greens, Stefan Birkner for the FDP and Stefan Marzischewski-Drewes for the AfD.

On election Sunday, those entitled to vote in Lower Saxony can vote, either in person at the polling station from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. or beforehand by postal vote.

Election in Lower Saxony: when will the first results be available?

After the polling stations close, the election result is not known immediately.

However, there are the first forecasts directly at 6 p.m.

They are based on polls conducted in front of the polling stations.

The first indication of the actual election result is around 6:30 p.m.

At that time the first ballot papers were counted.

On October 9, 2022, Lower Saxony will elect a new state parliament.

The first votes are counted immediately after the polling stations close at 6 p.m., so that the first results in municipalities and constituencies are known.

During the evening, the election workers noticed more and more interim results, which revealed an increasingly clear trend.

When the final result of the Lower Saxony election will be known

The final results of the election in Lower Saxony will be known in the late evening or in the night of October 10th.

After the first votes in the individual constituencies have been counted, all constituencies must transmit the results to the state committee.

The votes will be checked again by the committee.

Only then will the result be announced.
