Billionaire businessman Elon Musk sent a proposal to Twitter on Monday stating that he is willing to go ahead with the acquisition of the social network at the original price of $44 billion, according to a document he filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission. (SEC).
The news, first reported by the Bloomberg network, sent Twitter shares up more than 10% on Tuesday.
Twitter did not respond to a request for comment from NBC News.
Musk also could not be immediately reached for comment.

The deal will go through only if the Delaware court reviewing the dispute between Musk and Twitter after the Musk backed out of its initial purchase offer ends the litigation, according to the letter.
